Covid-19 appointment guidelines:

Although we are no longer considered to be in “pandemic mode,” as a courtesy to those patients who need extra protection, I will continue to follow a somewhat stricter protocol than what you might be used to.  Primarily I ask that you still wear a mask at all times during treatments.  (There are masks available by the entrance door.)

Acupuncture is not easily adapted to physical distancing, and there are going to be changes in how I treat people while we are experiencing the Covid crisis.  I know the experience is less “homey” and feel more clinical, but it is necessary to use this model so as to protect those in greater risk categories.

Please follow these guidelines:

Do not bring anything with you except your car keys which can be left inside your shoes in the sunroom.

Please wear a face mask.  You will be wearing the face mask throughout the whole time, so be sure it is comfortable.  Some people are uncomfortable having the mask on during the back treatment using the face-cradle.  If this is the case, we shall do the back treatment while you are on your side.

The treatment table is ready for you. It has been sanitized.  There will be no blankets.  I encourage you to bring your  foil blanket (also known as emergency, thermal,  solar or NASA blanket – which you will receive on your first appointment) for your comfort.  Foil blankets can be placed over needles.  You can keep your blanket in your car between appointments.

Arrive fully prepared to lay on the treatment table, wearing baggy shorts and T-shirt.  Have these under your other cloths which can be left in the blue bin in the treatment room.  The bin is sterilized after each use.  Do not leave your cloths and blanket anywhere else, but the bin.

During the summer the windows are open to ensure as much air circulation.  When weather cannot allow for the opening of windows, the room is being infused with essential oils (eucalyptus, rosemary, thyme, lemon) and a UV light air purifier is on for extra air safety.   The room is ventilated after each treatment for 15-30 minutes.   Note the use of essential oils if you have chemical sensitivities.

Please be aware that due to the required extra cleaning between uses, there is no bathroom access.

I will gladly answer all your questions and talk at length by phone or internet so as to minimize physical contact.

No payments or appointment making will be done when you leave.  Appointments will be made over the phone.   Simply call me and we shall discuss any questions, and set up your next appointment.

The treatment room, the treatment table are sanitized prior to your arrival and after you leave.   The sheets, paper and pillow covers are for your use and have not been used by anyone else.

If you have developed any of these symptoms (possible Covid-19 symptoms) within the days prior to the appointment, NH regulations, following the CDC, require that I do not see you and refer you to your medical doctor for screening and possible self-isolation.

I am aware this all sounds a bit cold and clinical.  Please know that this is not my preferred way to treat people with acupuncture, and I will do my best to make our interaction as warm as possible.  I am constantly reassessing and redefining “new normal” standards so as to accommodate  the many different needs, while prioritizing the needs of vulnerable patients.
